Sheila K. Forbes and Randall D. Wallace created FBTA in 1985 as an in-home therapy provider, addressing a significant gap in mental health services in the region surrounding St. Cloud, MN. FBTA soon became an award-winning therapy practice and expanded to the three locations that exist today. Sheila and Randall built FBTA on these founding principles:

  • The process of change benefits from constructive and research-based feedback from providers who are experienced, continually learning, and genuinely care for their clients.
  • Individuals and families come from diverse backgrounds and deserve providers who practice cultural humility.
  • Hope, social support, education, and a willingness to change provide a solid foundation for therapeutic progress. Shame, criticism, and judgment have no place in FBTA’s services.

Sheila K. Forbes and Randall D. Wallace retired in January 2026 and passed the legacy of FBTA on to Robbie Deering.
